Man's sight at risk after Manchester city centre bar attack

A man may lose some sight in one eye after he was attacked at a bar in Manchester city centre.

The attack happened in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Hula bar in Stevenson Square.

Police were called to he scene by paramedics who were treating the 23-year-old man who had suffered an injury to his right eye.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

The victim is currently being treated in hospital for the injury to his eye and it is possible he may lose some sight.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward.

Detective Constable Phil Marsh said:

"We are still in the process of establishing exactly what has happened and the events leading up to this man suffering a very nasty injury as a result of being attacked.

“He has suffered a severe injury to his eye and is still undergoing treatment at hospital and for his sake and that of his family we hope the injury does not prove as serious as we currently fear.

“It is very important we speak to as many people as possible who may have either witnessed the attack itself or have information about what happened to come forward.”
