Salford student brings 'discrimination' case against Oxford University
A former student from Salford is attempting to sue Oxford University over claims of discrimination against poorer students.
Damien Shannon, 26, had to forfeit a place at the prestigious St Hugh's College despite being able to pay the tuition fees.
He's taking legal action after failing to prove he could meet the projected £13,000 living costs.
Mr Shannon insists he could survive for a year on less and that by imposing the figure St Hugh's is breaching his human rights.
The case continues before Manchester County Court.
