Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed and left for dead in Greater Manchester on Sunday.

The victim was walking out of the front door of an address on Worcester Ave in Hindley when he was approached by two men who stabbed him repeatedly.

The pair then demanded the keys to 59 year old's C220 Mercedes.

His attackers ran off down Worcester Avenue without the car keys. It is believed they ran down an alleyway towards Smithwood Avenue.

The victim's in a very serious condition in hospital.

The two men are described as white, one was wearing a pale pink/red top with his face covered and the other wore a pale blue top with stripes down the sleeves.

Detective Inspector Graham Atherton from Wigan CID, said: “This was a horrendous attack on a defenceless man which has left him fighting for his life in hospital.

“These two men approached him on the doorstep and before they demanded his car keys they stabbed him multiple times and left him for dead.

“I am sure local residents will be shocked and angered by what has happened, but I want to try to reassure them that we have a team of experienced detectives working on the investigation and determined to find the men responsible.
