Two brothers have been sentenced for the GBH, with intent, of a teenager. They kicked and stamped on 16-year-old Marcos Ringle 54 times to steal his bike.

Martin McCaig, 22, was sentenced to a minimum eight year term before he can be considered for parole. The judge said the latter is a "big if".

Ryan McCaig, 17, was given an extended sentence which includes a ten year prison term, and then five years on licence.

Their mother, Jean Stafford, was also sentenced along with them as she was found guilty last month for perverting the course of justice.

Stafford was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
