A man was attacked with acid outside his home in Withington.

The 22-year-old man was attacked as he got out of his car on the drive of his home on Arnfield Road shortly after 12.30am on Wednesday 3rd April.

He was approached by two men in balaclavas, who are believed to have been waiting for him in his garden.

The men sprayed acid in the victim’s face and as he ran off along Arnfield Road shouting for help, they initially began to chase him but then left the area.

The attackers didn't steal anything.

“There are a number of lines of enquiry that we are currently investigating, but we believe the victim was deliberately targeted.

“The reason for this horrendous attack is not yet known, but I am certain that neither robbery or burglary were the motive. "
