A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman inOldham.A 20-year-old woman was arrested in the Oldham area in the early hours oftoday on suspicion of murder. She remains in police custody forquestioning.
Shortly after 10am on Friday 19 April 2013, police were called to reports
of a concern for welfare at an address on Bamford Street in Oldham.Officers attended and found the body of a 30-year-old woman. She hadsuffered serious injuries to her neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.A murder investigation is underway to establish the full circumstancessurrounding this woman’s death and these enquiries are ongoing.A Home Office post mortem examination is due to take place later today.Superintendent Catherine Hankinson from Oldham police station said: “Ayoung woman has tragically had her life taken from her. We are doing all wecan to establish the exact circumstances leading up to her death to providesome much needed answers for her family, who are clearly devastated by whathas happened.“The team of detectives dedicated to investigating this woman’s death arecurrently following a number of lines of enquiry, and we are keen to hearfrom anyone who has any information that may assist this investigation.“We do not believe there are any immediate concerns for the safety of thewider community, but extra patrols will remain in the area to providereassurance to local people.Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or call theindependent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
