A man, believed to be the husband, has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Oldham.
Thirty-year-old Farkhanda Younis was found dead at her home on Bamford Street in Oldham shortly after 10am last Friday 19 April 2013.
Police were called there following reports of a concern for welfare, where they found Farkhanda’s body.
Farkhanda, who was also known to her friends and family as Jabeen, had been stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 34-year-old man was arrested late last night on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody for questioning.
A Home Office post mortem examination found that Farkhanda died from stab wounds.
Detective Inspector Terry Crompton from the Major Incident Team investigating this death, said: “Since Farkhanda’s body was found on Friday morning, a team of detectives have been carrying out substantial enquiries to establish exactly what happened to this young woman and why and these enquiries remain ongoing.
“Late last night, we arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection with Farkhanda’s death and he is now being interviewed by detectives.
“Officers are continuing to support Farkhanda’s family at what is clearly a most traumatic time for them, as they try to come to terms with their loss. We are determined to provide them with the full answers around her untimely death.

On Saturday 20 April 2013, a 20-year-old woman was arrested in the Oldham area on suspicion of murder. She remains on bail until Thursday 25 April 2013 pending further enquiries.
