Man arrested on suspicion of historical sexual abuse

A man has been arrested by detectives investigating historical sexual abuse at a school in Altrincham.

Police arrested a 61-year-old man this morning at his home in the Middlesex area on suspicion of indecent assault.

The investigation is in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations of historic sexual offences associated to Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.

The offence relates to his time as a teacher at the school between 1975 and 1980 and relates to a former pupil at the school. The alleged offence did not occur on school grounds.

"We continue make good progress with this investigation and with tracing and speaking to former pupils of Altrincham Grammar School for Boys since allegations were made to police in December 2012.

“There are still former pupils that we would like to trace and speak to and if anyone has information relevant to our ongoing investigation please make contact. Any and all information provided will be treated in strict confidence.”
