A school on Merseyside will today become one of the first to teach children about the Hillsborough disaster.

Pupils at South Wirral High in Eastham will hear from relatives of some of those who died about what lessons can be learnt.

Students will study the fight for justice campaign, the role of the media afterwards, the truth and the legacy of Hillsborough on modern day football.

Wirral Council passed a motion which means that all secondary schools on the Wirral have been asked to include work on the tragic events in their curriculum. We have based our Human Rights Day on Hillsborough and the truth surrounding the events of the tragedy.
