A pregnant woman who was pushing her other two young sons in a pram had her bag snatched from her grasp by cruel thieves. The robbery happened just after 6pm on Wood Road in Whalley Range on Thursday. The woman, 43, is two months pregnant and was pushing her nine-month-old boy and three-year-old son in a double pram along the road. She was then approached from behind by two men, one of whom pushed her in the back. Startled, she turned around and the other offender snatched the bag from her hands. Both offenders then fled down Carlton Road. The first thief is described as being Asian, 5ft 8in tall, about 16-years-old and of a slim build with acne on his forehead. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers. The other man was also Asian, of a similar height and age. The bag contained the woman's purse, cash and mobile phone. Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward. Detective Constable Paul Jackson said: "These two callous thieves stooped to an unforgivable low, targeting a vulnerable woman who is both pregnant and looking after her two other young children. "She had no way of defending herself against these opportunistic and cowardly thieves and as any mother reading or hearing this will sympathise with, she was absolutely terrified and just wanted to protect her children. Thankfully neither she or the children were injured although she is very distraught. "This shameless attack happened in broad daylight, so we believe there may be a lot of potential witnesses who could help us find these two criminals. "If you did witness what happened, or you suspect who may be involved, or have any information whatsoever, then we need to hear from you." Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
