Merseyside Police have confirmed an investigation is underway into a robbery in Allerton this morning.
Police were called to the Lloyds TSB bank on Smithdown Place at about 9.15am to a report intruders had left the premises with an amount of cash.
Patrols are in attendance at the scene and a cordon has been put in place.
A search of the area is underway and staff at the bank are in the process of being spoken to by police about the incident to establish the full circumstances including how the males gained entry.
– Detective Sergeant Christopher Burrows
"I would urge anyone who may have seen males acting suspiciously near to the bank at the time of this incident to contact us.
"Also there is a chance that someone in the area may have seen people acting suspiciously in the area in the days prior to the incident and I would again ask anyone with information to come forward to help us bring the offenders to justice."
A high visibility police presence is in the area and officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries to see if any residents or businesses saw or heard anything that may assist the investigation.
An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
