A messy day for Wednesday
**Wednesday started more unsettled than we would like - light rain and showers in the mix as well as mist and fog lingering in places (Lancashire and Cheshire). On the whole it will stay cloudy but bright and warm spells could develop during the afternoon. Highs will be comfortably above the average of 16/17C....possibly reaching 20C (68F) in any brighter breaks.
During the day a weakening front sinks south. Light showers are possible but very 'hit and miss'.
What the front will bring is a cooler night for rural Cumbria and Lancashire as skies clear from the north and east - here temperatures could get down to 6/7C. Elsewhere temperatures will hold up 9-12C but a fresher feel across all parts of the region.
