Detailed forecast: Icy overnight. Bitterly cold Tuesday

Weather warnings are in place for the early part of Tuesday for icy patches and some frozen slushy light snow cover over higher parts of Cheshire and the Isle of Man.


Away from the overnight showers clear spells develop, allowing a widespread frost to form into Tuesday. Anywhere wet inland will freeze. Minimum Temperature -2 °C.


Cold, with sunny spells and wintry showers, mainly near western coasts. A mainly dry and clear afternoon. Feeling bitterly cold with a fresh northwest breeze. Maximum Temperature 6 °C, feeling more like 2°C.


Unsettled on Wednesday with gales in the west. Rain for the morning followed by showers, turning to snow over hills for a time as cold air digs in again.

Thursday and Friday will be drier and brighter with just a few isolated wintry showers. Temperatures struggle. A cold northeast wind. Overnight frosts.
