A woman from Blackpool has been jailed for committing a burglary on a disabled man while he was at home in bed.

The offence took place in August when the woman entered a property on Riverside Drive, Poulton-le-Fylde, found the disabled man be awake in bed, and stole a wallet from his bedside table containing a large amount of money.

Sonia Eyres, 42, from Blackpool, was sentenced to 3 years’ in prison having previously pleaded guilty of one count of dwelling burglary.

“This was a disgraceful crime where Eyres has taken advantage of a vulnerable victim’s circumstances. Eyres should be ashamed of herself, and I welcome the custodial sentence given to her."
