A conference will be held in Manchester today to discuss the needs of rape victims.
St Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre have hosted the event for the last 12 years to consider all aspects of rape investigations.
Key spokespeople working in the field of Rape and Sexual Assault will be called upon including the police, doctors and forensic scientists.
Dr Catherine White, Clinical Director at St Mary's SARC, said: "This year's conference will take a look at a range of issues relating to rape and sexual assault and in particular will highlight rape investigation and the importance of high standards in gathering evidence for the court process.
"Our own research into rape and sexual assault of those aged under the age of eight will show the type of assault but also issues around disclosure of abuse and look at ways that we can encourage young people to report."
