A crash in which a keen motorcyclist died after colliding with a police van in Cumbria has been referred to the police watchdog, the IPCC.
Scott Daniel Gibson died in the collision on Friday April 4, on the A590 between Melton and Lindal at approximately 10.30pm
Scott was 23 and from Lesh Lane, Barrow.
His family of Scott has paid tribute: “Scott was a car and motorbike fanatic and he loved tinkering with his bikes to make them perfect. He was a rider for the last three years.
“After leaving Parkview School, Scott gained an apprenticeship as a motor mechanic from Furness College. He has then worked at Mowbray’s Autos in Barrow for the past seven years. Scott really enjoyed working there and his boss, Dave Mowbray (pictured below)was a loyal friend and they went on regular bike rides together.
“Scott was a popular lad with lots of good friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and he will never be forgotten.”
Scott’s younger brother Matthew said: “'You were a massive part of my life Scott. I honestly don't know what I am going to do without you, you have touched so many people’s hearts. Keep that big smile brother. Mam and Dad are in safe hands with me. I will make you proud. Love you.”
Scott leaves behind his mother Eleanor, father Roy, younger brother Matthew, and Wynston the dog.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and appeal for any witnesses who were in the area, or who may have seen something that will help with the investigation to contact Cumbria Police on 101 and speak to a member of the Operational Support Unit.
