Granada Weather - The Week Ahead

River Wenning RICHARD BAYLEY Photo:

After a settled week of mainly dry and bright weather, with decent temperatures for early September, there's a slight and brief change as we head into the weekend.

High pressure, currently parked over Scandinavia, has been responsible for delivering the settled conditions over the past few days. Despite some cloud around at times the weather has been quiet.

By the end of Friday the high pressure slips away east, allowing an area of low pressure to nudge in briefly. This will bring a weather front southeastwards later on Friday into the first part of Saturday - clouding things up from the north and bringing some showery rain for a time.

The good news is that, behind this weather front, high pressure begins to build again - only this time from the northwest. This means that initially, for the weekend, a slightly fresher feel will develop as light winds bring air in from a northerly quarter. Temperatures will dip a little, returning to the seasonal average (18C by day, 10C by night).

The past few nights have been pretty mild, especially in the towns and cities. Saturday and Sunday night are expected to be a little cooler, especially in rural locations.

As high pressure continues to build Monday into Tuesday we are looking at another settled week ahead - mainly dry, light winds, bright or sunny spells with temperatures rising again to low 20's celsius.

Here's your Granada forecast into the weekend........

FRIDAY:

A largely fine and dry day with bright or sunny spells for most. Low cloud will again lift early morning to bring settled conditions across many areas. Cloud will increase from the north during the afternoon, with rain edging into Cumbria during the evening - before turning showery and sinking southeast overnight. Highs 20°C

SATURDAY:

Rain becoming lighter and patchier or showery in nature overnight into Saturday morning. Early cloud and rain moving slowly S/SE’wards. Bright or sunny spells will develop behind this cloud and rain. Winds generally light. Temperatures generally near normal. Highs 18°C

SUNDAY:

After a chillier night and cooler start many areas should be dry with variable amounts of cloud and bright or sunny spells. Mainly light winds. Temperatures again near or a just below normal but still feeling pleasant in sunshine. 18-19°C

Slightly cooler weekend. Unsettled start Saturday, but improving Credit: Met Office/ ITV
