Betting shop staff threatened with knife during attempted armed robbery in Preston

Police investigating an armed robbery in Preston have released CCTV footage showing a member of staff at a bookmakers being threatened with a knife.

The incident happened on the morning of Sunday October 4 when two men entered Betfred on Watling Street Road where they approached the counter and threatened the terrified worker.

In the footage the victim refuses to hand over money to the men and manages to push one of them back after he jumps onto the counter.

Both men ran from the scene onto Wharfedale Avenue towards Silverdale Drive on the Brookfield Estate.

The first man is described as white and approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall and was wearing a black shiny bomber jacket, dark blue jeans and a black shiny baseball cap with a black and white chequered scarf covering his face.

The second man is described as approximately 5 foot 3 inches tall and was dressed in black.

DC Darren Caunce from Preston CID said:

"We are determined to find these two men who left the staff member terrified. Our enquiries are on-going and I am asking anyone who may recognise them or who knows anything about this incident at all, to contact us as soon as possible.”
