Lionel Richie will be playing in Manchester next year, as part of a short tour of the UK.

He will perform at Manchester Arena on June 28, before heading to London for two shows at the O2.

The arena dates will top off a year that saw Richie stage a sell-out tour and draw the biggest crowd of over 100,000 people to the Pyramid Stage for his performance in Glastonbury Festival's Legends slot in June.

Off the back of his appearance, Richie rocketed back into the UK charts with his album The Definitive Collection, reaching number one for the first time in 23 years.

Richie said:

"It's been an unforgettable year and I can't wait to return to the UK to see my fans.

"It's always been a really special place for me and this year in particular the UK has been incredible to me.

I'm excited to be getting out there and seeing some new faces and I'm sure some old ones too!"
