This is the moment two clueless thieves are filmed by the security cameras they're trying to steal from a football club.

Video footage taken from the cameras shows a man and a woman walking across Hyde United Football Club car park in Greater Manchester.

After approaching a camera, which is on the wall of the team’s social club, the man is captured trying to pull it from its brackets.

The screen shakes as the would-be thief tries to dismantle the security device, before giving up after a feeble effort to try to pull it from the wall.

Then another camera at the club films the woman, clad in a fur-trimmed coat, as she stares blankly into the device’s lens. The man then comes over to try again to pull the camera from its mount.

Now the footage has been shared with the police in a bid to track down the dopey thieves, who are seen at the end of the clip leaving the area empty-handed.

The incident happened at around 7.50pm last Sunday.

The club’s general manager, Pete Ainger, said:

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the footage. Obviously, they are after the cameras, but don’t seem to realise that they are being filmed the whole time they’re trying to get them.

"They didn’t manage to get them but they have damaged them, it’s annoying as we are a fan-run club and don’t want to have to deal with the expense of replacing them.”
