Highways Agency announce five-week disruption

Significant traffic management will be in place on the A556 and Bowdon roundabout Credit: Highways Agency

The Highways Agency has announced that there will be traffic disruption and roadworks starting from tomorrow for approximately five weeks.

Significant traffic management will be in place on the A556 and Bowdon roundabout as upgrades are made to the existing road in preparation to tie in with the new dual carriageway.

A statement on its website read:

There will be a series of overnight closures in place from Tuesday 29 March that will run on weekday nights (9pm- 5am, 9pm-6am on Friday) for approximately five weeks.

These road closures will affect journeys to and from Manchester Airport. Diversions will be clearly signposted and marked with an aeroplane symbol. We would recommend allowing an additional ten minutes to your journey.
