An artist based in Manchester has designed this year's Royal Mail Christmas stamps.

The six stamps, ranging in value from 1st and 2nd class to £2.25, were crafted by Helen Musselwhite, using paper cut-outs, which were then photographed.

Traditional festive images of a snowman, robin and lantern are included in the Royal Mail's Christmas stamps this year. A Christmas tree, pudding and stocking complete the set, which go on sale on today.

"Illustrating the Royal Mail Christmas 2016 stamps has been one of the most important and favourite jobs of my career to date.

"I'm immensely proud that my work will be winging its way across the world sending season's greetings far and wide from the UK."

– Helen Musselwhite

The robin's appearance on cards was inspired by the red coats worn by postmen in Victorian times.

Last recommended posting dates are December 20 for 2nd class, December 21 for 1st class, December 22 for special delivery and December 23 for guaranteed Saturday special delivery.
