Pregnant woman gives birth to son three months early following car crash

A pregnant woman has had to have an emergency caesarean section after a car crash in Greater Manchester.

The woman, who is in her early 20s, was in a Vauxhall Corsa along Moston Lane, Moston when it was involved in a collision with a Mercedes CLK, which in turn collided with a stationary van.

She was taken to hospital where she had an emergency caesarean section because of complications after the collision.

She remains in a stable condition.

Her newborn son, who was delivered three months prematurely, is currently in a serious condition and is receiving treatment in a neo natal unit.

The driver of the Mercedes CLK remained at the scene and did not receive any injuries.

Any witnesses who saw the collision at 1.35pm on Tuesday 19th September 2017 are urged to come forward.
