Police search for dog after 11 year old hospitalised in 'horrific' attack

An 11 year old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being bitten by a dog.

Police say it happened on Stapleton Avenue in Speke on Sunday 24 June.

A man has been arrested after a report that one of two dogs had bitten the child on the legs and arms, face and back.

The dogs have not been traced - police say extensive investigations are underway to find out what breed of dogs were involved.

This was a horrific attack which has resulted in a boy suffering extensive injuries to his head and body.

I want to reassure people that he is now getting the best possible care.

Chief Inspector Keith McLachlan said "This case highlights in the starkest terms the potential dangers of dogs and I would appeal to anyone with information about dangerous dogs in their area to contact us so that we can take pro-active action."
