WATCH: The animal rescue centre run from a house

Could you share your home with 20 dogs, a sheep, goats, pigs, ferrets, a rabbit, horses, turkeys and a brood of chickens?

The founders of an animal rescue centre run from a three bedroom house in Salford say demand for their services has grown so much it needs a new home.

They take in all sorts - including abandoned and unwanted dogs from all over the world. The idea is they can happily roam free with no cages to confine them and have a lot of fun at the same time.

Meow do you do? Meet Ruby the talking cat, who 'says hello' to her rescuers

A rescue cat at an animal sanctuary in Lancashire has proved she loves a chat - after seemingly learning to say "hello".

Ruby, who's 16 years old, was brought in to the Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Edenfield after her owner moved to Australia.

Volunteers at the shelter noticed that when she said "hi" to Ruby, she would meow - and sound like she was saying "hello" back.

Karen Weed, centre manager, said Ruby is one of a kind.

She’s a really friendly cat and she loves to have a conversation. She likes attention and for people to make a fuss of her. A couple of weeks ago we noticed that when we said ‘hello’, her meow reply sounded like she was saying it back.

It was a bit of shock really. We’ve had talking cats before, but not one like Ruby.

Ruby is one of around 350 animals at the sanctuary in need of a new home.
