Bug affects hospital wards

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust has closed four wards at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary after a further outbreak of the norovirus.

A statement said:

In order to ensure that the hospital can return to normal as soon as possible, the decision has been made to close wards 21, 34, 35, and 37, to visitors, until at least Monday 7 January, when a further update will be issued. **

Visitors are to be banned from large parts of the Royal Lancaster Infirmary after an outbreak of the norovirus.Nine wards at the hospital have been affected by the highly contagious winter bug. Visitors will still be allowed into some areas, including the intensive care unit and children's ward.
