Snow is causing chaos across much of the North West as roads are blocked and trains cancelled. Police are advising drivers to be cautious. The bad weather is forecast to continue into tonight.

High Peak homes may have no power overnight

As temperatures drop below freezing tonight, Electricity North West says its engineers may not be able to restore power to all the 4500 affected homes in Derbyshire and Greater Manchester. 2800 homes do now have power, but some roads remain impassable, preventing engineers repairing overhead lines.

4500 homes without power in High Peak

4500 homes are without power in the High Peak area of Derbyshire. This includes towns such as Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith and Glossop. Electricity North West says its engineers have been working round the clock to restore power. They hope to have the problems fixed by tonight.
