Men bailed

A group of men from Greater Manchester have been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of having sex with a child.

Police in Rochdale made two arrests last Friday bringing the total questioned to nine.

It is part of an investigation into alleged exploitation of a teenaged girl which dates back seven years. All the men are aged between 24 and 38. Greater Manchester Police say they are not connected to the nine men who were jailed for child sex offences last week.

Men held in 2nd grooming investigation

Several men have been arrested in connection with a 2nd investigation into child exploitation. A 24 and a 26-year-old man were arrested on Friday on suspicion of sexual activity with a child. The arrest is a result of an inquiry into the sexual exploitation of a teenage girl by men since 2005.

In total nine men have been arrested aged between 24 and 38-years-old, on

suspicion of sexual activity with a child. They have been bailed pending

further inquiries.

MP Simon Danczuk: Grooming case just 'tip of iceberg'

Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk has told Granada News that the recent court case involving nine men who were jailed for child grooming, is just the 'tip of the iceberg'. He has praised Greater Manchester Police for stepping up resources to investigate more potential cases of grooming in the town.

My message for anyone thinking of getting involved in this kind of activity is that you do so at your peril because the full force of the law will come down very hard on you. We've seen inspiring bravery shown by victims in the recent trial.

I hope the heavy sentences imposed will encourage other victims to speak out because this crime is being taken very seriously and we need to send out the clearest message that this behaviour will not be tolerated in Rochdale or anywhere else
