Strong winds in Blackpool led to an early end to the the inaugural concert by Sir Elton John at the new outdoor venue in Blackpool. After just two hours at the Blackpool Tower Headland Elton told the crowd that police had advised him to stop playing.

Elton fans disappointed

Ellton John has promised to make it up to his fans after his concert in Blackpool had to be abandoned because of bad weather. Just under two hours into his set he told them that the gig was over due to high winds at the outdoor Tower Headland arena.It was the opening concert at the brand new venue.

Ellton abandons Blackpool gig

Rock star Elton John was forced to abandon the inaugural concert at the new outdoor venue in Blackpool by bad weather. Eleven thousand fans were at the Blackpool Headlands venue, but Elton promised to make up for their disappointment.

I have been told there is some really bad weather on the way,

The police say you need to leave right now in an orderly fashion.

I'm sorry but I don't want anyone to be hurt. I'll make it up to you.

I can't see anyone with a bikini on out there.
