A judge has jailed the man who shot dead Anuj Bidve for at least thirty years calling the murder a 'truly wicked act'.
Kiaran Stapleton had never met his victim and had no reason to kill him when they met in the early hours of Boxing Day last year.
The judge said he ended the life of a young man who had so much to look forward to.
Bidve killer to spend minimum of 30 years in prison
The man guilty of murdering Indian student Anuj Bidve in Salford must spend at least 30 years in prison.
Kiaran Stapleton was told by the judge he showed a callous disregard for Mr Bidve after the murder and during the trial.

Detective Chief Superintendent Mary Doyle said: ”Anuj’s family have got the verdict they deserved. I have spoken to the family and while they remain grief stricken that nothing can bring Anuj back, they are very pleased Stapleton will not even be eligible for parole until he is in his fifties.
"On behalf of myself and all my team, I would like to pay tribute to the dignity that Anuj’s family have shown. They have had to sit through five weeks of harrowing evidence but at least today they have seen justice done.

A killer who called himself 'Psycho' will be sentenced today after he was found guilty of murdering an Indian student in Salford.
Kiaran Stapleton walked up to stranger Anuj Bidve, 23, in the street in Ordsall and shot him in the head at point blank range.
Before the verdict was read out Stapleton, jogged up the steps to the dock from the cells and grinned. He stared straight ahead as the verdict was announced.

Stapleton found guilty of Anuj Bidve's murder

23-year-old Anuj was shot at random by Stapleton on Boxing Day as he was walking through Salford with a group of friends.
A jury at Manchester Crown Court found him guilty of murder.
During the trial he displayed no remorse, saying he shot Anuj because he had the biggest head of the group and that he should have taken a taxi that night instead.
It took a jury at Manchester Crown Court less than 2 and a half hours to convict Stapleton.

He is seen at a petrol station moments before the murder, running away from the scene and checking into a hotel the day after.
He even looks at the crime scene from the hotel bar.
