A couple dramatically rescued when their car plunged into a canal have been found dead at their home in Sale in a shooting horror. Police have arrested their son Stephen - also known as Nic - on suspicion of murder.

Police charge son with murder of his parents in Sale

Police have charged 45-year-old Stephen Seddon - also known as Nic - with murder and attempted murder after his parents were found dead. Police discovered the bodies of Pat and Bob Seddon in the living room of their house in Sale last Friday. A gun was found nearby.

Stephen Seddon, from County Durham, is due to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police have until this afternoon to finish questioning a man arrested on suspicion of murdering his parents. The bodies of Pat and Bob Seddon were discovered by police in their living room at home on Clough Avenue, Sale, last Friday.

Both had single gunshot wounds, and a gun was found nearby. Their son Stephen Seddon - also known as Nic, a 45-year-old businessman from County Durham, was arrested at his home on Saturday evening.

Police successfully applied to a magistrate on Tuesday to keep him in custody for a further 36 hours. A second extension was then granted which will elapse this afternoon.

Man held over couple's murder

Detectives have arrested a man over the murder of an elderly couple who were shot dead at their home in Sale, Greater Manchester.

The bodies of Bob Seddon and his wife Patricia were discovered on Friday afternoon.

Police in County Durham arrested the 45-year-old suspect last night.
