Around 20 households have still not returned to their homes after a factory fire that ruptured a gas main in Radcliffe in Greater Manchester.

Firefighters battled through the night to bring the blaze under control.

Around 100 homes were evacuated with people moved to an emergency rest centre. This evening part of the damaged building is having to be demolished for safety reasons.

People living close to a warehouse in Radcliffe in Greater Manchester which has been badly damaged in a huge overnight fire, are still unable to return to their homes.

More than a hundred properties had to be evacuated, and while many people have been allowed back, a small number may have to spend a second night in temporary accomodation.

Many people will be allowed home later this morning but roads in the area will remain closed.

Around 50 firefighters were called to the scene on Schofield Street as the flames spread across a number of units.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said a gas mains pipe in one of the properties then exploded forcing emergency workers to evacuated nearby properties as a precaution.
