Parts of Greater Manchester have some of the worst rates of tooth decay in the country, so the NHS is trying out a new idea, getting children to brush their teeth in class as part of their school day.
2011 - Percentage of children in the Rochdale area aged under 12 with tooth decay was 0.9%, compared to a national average of 0.7%.
2010 - Percentage of children in the Rochdale area aged under 5 with tooth decay was 2.1% compared to a national average of 1.1%.

Pupils are being given lessons in brushing their teeth at schools in Greater Manchester. The pilot scheme, called Smile Time, is being held in Rochdale which has one of the worst records of tooth decay in the country.
