Shoppers in Manchester today will get a festive treat when huge ice sculptures are created in the city centre.

Sculptures like these will start taking shape from 10am in Piccadilly gardens.

Picadilly ice festival arrives

Piccadilly Gardens will become much cooler when an internationally renowned group of master ice sculptors will create a magical forest of icy creations for the Piccadilly Ice Festival.

The award winning group, the Glacial Art Ice Sculptors, will wield chainsaw and chisel to create 14 incredible ice sculptures inspired by a festive, winter theme.

This ice cool spectacle is completely free, throughout the weekend of Saturday 8 (10am - 4pm) and Sunday 9 December (11am - 5pm).
