Police in Stockport searching for two missing men have found a body in Bredbury. Michael Simpson went missing on New Year's Eve. Neil Marsom has not been seen since January 3. Both their families have been told.
Police in Stockport have found the body of missing Michael Simpson in the River Goyt.Shortly before 2.30pm yesterday afternoon specialist officers made the discovery near to the Pear Mill Industrial Estate. Michael's family has been informed.
Detective Inspector Julia Bowden from Stockport CID said:
"Our thoughts and condolences are with Michael's family at this devastating time after we have today identified him as the man found in water in Bredbury yesterday afternoon. Our officers are doing all they can to support Michael's family.
"We do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding Michael's death." Michael, aged 22 and from Heaton Norris, was last seen at 2am on 1 January 2013 as he attended a New Year's Eve party at a friend's house on Stockport Road West in Bredbury.
