National Television Awards
Tonight all the stars from the Nations favourite television programmes will congregate under one roof for the National Television Awards. This year is the 18th NTA's held LIVE from the O2 arena and shown on ITV1 tonight at 7.30pm.
Coronation Street celebrates awards victory
It's been a great night for Coronation street at tonight's star studded National Television awards in London.
The soap won best serial drama. It beat Eastenders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks to top spot as the viewers favourite.
And Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone also won an award for best serial drama performance.
'Tyrone' pays tribute to 'Jack Duckworth'
Speaking backstage, Halsall paid tribute to Bill Tarmey, saying the actor would be looking down on him tonight.
He said: "I'm sure he is. He'll be having a pint of Guinness for me. His wife asked me to wear his watch tonight so I've got it on.
This is for him, he guided me literally from the start of my career at Coronation Street, he was such a huge, huge influence on my life like a second dad on screen.
"He'd be laughing at this right now, he used to say, 'none of that bloody acting'."
