A young man and woman are being questioned by detectives investigating the murder of a 16 year old girl in Blackpool. The body of Sasha Marsden was found in an alleyway last night. Police arrested a man aged 22 and a woman of 20 near the scene in South Shore.
Mandy Pritchard, Head of School for Society, Health and Childhood at Blackpool and The Fylde College said:
“Sasha was studying a Level 1 Childcare course withBlackpool and The Fylde College. Since enrolling with us last September, shehad been making fantastic progress.
"Sasha worked hard and was looking forwardto carrying out a work placement and progressing to Level 2 and ultimately acareer in Childcare.
“She was a friendly, considerate individual who cared about herfellow students. Her classmates are understandably upset and the College is offering all the support it can at this difficult time.
“Our thoughts are with Sasha’s family.”
Police have named the girl who was found dead in a back alley in Blackpool.
Formal identification has yet to take place but it is believed to be Sasha Marsden who was 16-years-old and from the Staining area.
She lived with her parents and attended the Blackpool and the Fylde College.
Detective Superintendent Andy Murphy of Lancashire Police tells press the force are doing "all they can" to investigate the death of a 16-year-old girl in Blackpool.
Police are investigating after a woman's body was found in an alley.
A statement read:
A murder investigation is underway after the body of a young woman was discovered in the rear alley at Kirby Road, Blackpool shortly after 9 o’clock on the evening of Thursday 31st January 2013.
A short time later, a 22 year old man and a 20 year old woman were arrested near to the scene and are presently being held in police custody on suspicion of murder.
A police cordon remains in place and police are appealing to anybody with any information that could assist with the investigation to contact them on 101.
