Police officers injured in hit and run
Two police officers have been injured in a hit and run in North Manchester. It happened on Rochdale Road in Harpurhey last night. One suffered a fractured skull and the other received broken bones. Two men have been arrested.
Officer 'stable'
One of the officers was left with a fractured wrist, which will require surgery while the other suffered severe head injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition, and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, Greater Manchester Police said.
Man in court after police run over
A man is due to appear in court to face allegations that he deliberately ran over two police officers in Manchester, leaving one with a fractured skull and bleeding to the brain.
The officers were injured during a routine stop in Harpurhey on Sunday night when they pulled over a vehicle for speeding in Rochdale Road.
When the officers got out to approach the car it reversed and hit them before the driver sped off.
Wayne Crompton, 36, will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking without consent, driving while disqualified and and driving with no insurance.

Man charged over hit and run

Wayne Crompton's been charged with two counts of section 18 assault, dangerous driving, aggravated taking without consent, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance. A 49-year old man's been released without charge.
