"Good Samaritan" knifed while breaking up a fight

Police in Didsbury are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed trying to break up a fight in a pub.

The attack happened at the O'Neill's Bar on Wilmslow Road.

The victim, Sam, aged 25 and from Stockport, had been drinking inside the bar and had stepped outside with a friend, when he saw two men fighting.

One of the men involved in the fight fell to the floor and was then seen to be kicked in his face and body by the other man.

Sam became concerned for the man on the floor and intervened to separate the two.

As he did, he felt a sharp blow to the right of his lower back and realised he had been stabbed.

The two men involved in the fight both left the scene on foot together with the knifeman. It is unclear if they then got into any vehicles.
