Police forensic teams are searching a house on the Ordsall Estate in Salford after two prisoners escaped from a transit van yesterday. The house they are searching is where two people were arrested yesterday in connection with the escape.
Police investigating the escape of two inmates from a prison van in Salford are questioning two people.
A 28-year-old woman and 24-year-old man were arrested at a house on the Ordsall estate on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The man was also arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs and breaching a court order.
Police have revealed the identities of the two men who escaped from a prison van in Salford earlier.
20 year old Ryan McDonald and 31 year old Stevie McMullen were on their way to Manchester Crown Court when the raid on their van took place.
Police have confirmed the identity of one of the escaped prisoners.
20 year old Ryan McDonald from Allendale Walk in Salford was on his way to Manchester Crown Court where he was due to be sentenced for robbery.
The identity of the other prisoner has not been confirmed.
Gillian Roberts witnessed the raid on the prison van as she was driving to work along Regent Road in Salford.

“We can confirm that on Tuesday 30th April at approximately 9:00am a prisoner escort vehicle was targeted on the A57 Regent Road, Manchester, which resulted in the escape of two people from custody. We are liaising with Greater Manchester Police regarding this incident. As this is an on-going police investigation we are unable to comment further at this time.”
Police attention is focused on a green Saab saloon close to the prison van where around 9am this morning two inmates were helped to escape.
Witnesses reported seeing the van stopped by three men in a green car wearing balaclavas.
