Police investigating the death of a man whose daughter has been missing for six years, have charged a woman with perverting the course of justice.
Frank Chivers, whose daughter Paige went missing in 2006, was found dead las Sunday.
A Lancashire Police statement said:
Carli Turner, 28, of Camden Road, Blackpool has been charged with Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice and has been remanded in custody to appear before Blackpool Magistrates on Monday 19th August 2013.
Two other local women aged 32 and 43 arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice have been released without charge.
A 43-year-old local man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody at Blackpool Police Station.
Detectives have launched a murder investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 49 year old man died last Sunday following a suspected assault.
Paramedics were called to Frank Chivers home on Walter Robinson Court in Layton after reports he had collapsed.
Police say he was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but later passed away.
As a result of enquiries made following his death, police now believe Frank Chivers was assaulted shortly before his death.
A post mortem examination will now take place to establish the cause of his death.
Detective Superintendent Paul Withers from the Force Major Investigation Team said: “The exact circumstances surrounding Frank’s death are still unclear at this stage but we believe he may have been subjected to an assault which has caused him to collapse within his home.
“I would appeal to anybody that may have witnessed this assault or with any information that could assist police with our inquiry to come forward.
“I’d also like to make a direct appeal to friends and associates of Frank who may have information concerning what took place in his flat that afternoon and would assure them that any information given will be treated in confidence.”
A 43 year old man from Blackpool has this morning been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody being questioned by officers.
