Appeal for killer of Liverpool dad

Colin Hughes

Detectives are re-appealing for information on the third anniversary of the murder of a dad-of-one from Old Swan.

Colin Hughes, aged 42, was knifed to death at his home address on Baden Road in 2010.

Emergency services were called to the house shortly before 1am following reports that Mr Hughes

Detectives have arrested ten people on suspicion of his murder all of whom have been released without charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil McEwan, said: "Colin Hughes was a hard-working family man who was making plans to marry his fiancée Paula when he was murdered in his back garden and cruelly taken away from all who loved him.

"I would hope that the passing of time will enable people to search their consciences and find the courage to come forward to tell us what they know. We understand that people are sometimes reluctant to come forward in the aftermath of such a serious crime as this.

"Three years on, people may have moved from the area or may be in a different situation from then and now feel in a position to talk to the police. If this is you, I would urge you to come forward, you could provide vital answers that we so want to give to Mr Hughes’ family.
