Church urges pupils to contribute to foodbanks

Children from across the Diocese of Liverpool are being asked to donate their Harvest Festival contributions to their local foodbank. The Church says that it made the suggestion to Church of England schools as increasing numbers of people are struggling to find enough to eat.

"At harvest when we celebrate God's gifts of food to us we need to remember those who struggle to feed themselves and their families. Foodbanks offer a great amount of support to just those families and that's why I am encouraging all schools to make a harvest donation to their local one. As we remember God's generosity to us then let us reflect that to others in our gifts of food."

– Rt Revd Richard Blackburn, The Bishop of Warrington
