Schoolgirl dies in head-on crash

A 10-year-old girl has died after a head-on crash between a car and a bus on the Isle of Man. It happened just outside Castletown yesterday afternoon. Three other people are in hospital.

This is the spot where the Manx schoolgirl, Alexis French, lost her life in a head-on crash between a car and a bus yesterday.

The 10-year-old was with her family in a BMW, traveling along the Castletown Bypass, when the smash happened.

Three other victims are being treated in hospital.

Schoolgirl killed in head-on smash named

Police on the Isle of Man have named the schoolgirl killed in a head-on crash between a car and a bus.

Alexis French, 10, was traveling in the car with her parents and younger brother.

Alexis was a pupil at Ballaugh Primary School. Her headteacher, Dr Graeme Cushine, says everyone at the school is shocked and saddened. He describes the youngster as a "popular, bright and hard working pupil who had many friends".

Five people on the bus were treated for minor injuries and shock.

A 10-year-old girl has died in a head-on crash between a car and a bus on the Isle of Man.

The accident happened on Fishers Hill yesterday afternoon, when a silver BMW collided with a bus heading for Port Erin.

The dead youngster was among a family traveling in the car.

Three people are being treated in hospital. Two were so badly injured, they were airlifted to hospitals off the island.
