A permanent tribute to one of the most distinctive comics in the region has been unveiled in Greater Manchester. A life size Frank Sidebottom statue was revealed to hundreds of members of the public at 11.37am - one of the comic's catchphrases in his home town of Timperley.

The man behind the mask, Chris Sievey died from cancer in 2010. Since then his family and fans raised the 20 thousand pounds to cast the comedy legend in bronze. Ralph Blunsom reports:

Hundreds took to the streets of Timperley this morning for the unveiling of the long-awaited Frank Sidebottom statue.

It was revealed to the public on Stockport Road at 11.37am – one of the comic’s catchphrases. It popped out of his very own famous shed.

The character's creator Chris Sievey died from cancer in 2010, ever since his family and fans have been fundraising for the £20,000 bronze cast.
