A man accused of murdering a mother of two from Salford has appeared in court this morning.
Michael Cope pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault and one of rape.
The alleged offences are all reported to have happened in the months leading up to Miss Ashton's death.
Mr Cope, who appeared via video link from prison will enter a plea on the murder charge at a later date as his defence team await a psychiatric report.
A man will appear in court later charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Mother-of-two Linzi Ashton, 25, was discovered with multiple injuries at her home in Winton, Salford, Greater Manchester, on June 29.
Michael Cope, 28, is also accused of separate offences of rape and assault against Miss Ashton.
Cope will appear at Manchester Crown Court via videolink from prison for the plea and case management hearing.
