Salford's historic blue cranes have been dismantled. They've been at Salford Quays since 1988. Campainers who wanted to save them say they're a reminder of the dock's industrial heritage. But the council said it couldn't afford to maintain them.
Salford's blue cranes will be demolished this weekend despite efforts to save them.
The pair were built on dock six in 1966 and are one of the area's original landmarks. They have been part of the skyline since 1988 after they were decommissioned.
Despite campaigners collecting almost 1300 signatures the council say it would cost too much to restore them and make them safe so will demolish the cranes on Saturday.
