Family and friends have been paying tribute to St Helens rugby league legend Steve Prescott, whose funeral was held today.

Steve had been battling a rare form of stomach cancer. Despite that he underwent numerous endurance challenges and raised almost half a million pounds for charity.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of St Helens ahead of the funeral of St Helens rugby league star Steve Prescott.

The 39-year-old passed away after battling a rare form of stomach cancer for the last seven years. He raised almost half a million pounds for research in a series of endurance challenges, including marathons, walks and bike rides. The money raised went to the Steve Prescott Foundation.[

Prescott was part of an all-conquering St Helens team. An outstanding full back, he scored 340 points for his home town club during five glittering seasons.
