The North West has more children in need of a loving new home than anywhere else in the country. More than 600 youngsters are waiting to be adopted. Now councils are encouraging a wider group of people to consider adopting.

Now 22 of our councils are joining forces to encourage more people to consider adopting. Each will have to find 30 adoptive parents per year. Currently, they get only a handful of inquiries a month.

Local authorities across the North West are joining together for the first ever regional adoption week.

The campaign is aimed at educating people about the process. More than 600 children need homes in the North West.

The local authorities involved in Adopt North West include:

Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Bolton, Bury, Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, Knowsley, Lancashire, Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Sefton, St Helens, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Warrington, Wigan and Wirral.
