A man proposed to his girlfriend whilst visiting a tower in the Isle of Man that is normally cut off by the sea.

Richard Mylchreest popped the question to Sam Lindsey-Birchall and luckily she said yes.

The couple joined thousands others who walked to the Tower of Refuge in Douglas Bay.

The tower is usually inaccessible but an exceptionally low spring tide meant the public could walk to it, supervised by the coastguard.

The event raised money for the RNLI, whose founder built the tower in 1832 to give shelter to sailors when ships were wrecked on the rocks.
